First Kanto Friendly a Tremendous Success

YC&AC hosted a novel friendly tournament on September 7, inviting bowlers from other clubs in the Kanto region to join us for a day on the green and an evening on the deck.

Thirteen bowlers from other clubs and twelve from YC&AC signed up, allowing for an almost perfect triples tournament, with one team rotating four bowlers.

After a draw that ensured teams were a good mix of bowlers from the different clubs, proceedings began with a Spider…

… which was won by Motoko Tsuyama, with Saki Takayama from Tokyo LBC finishing second.

The eight teams were split into two groups of four, each team playing three group matches before a final round against the same-placed team from the other group.

Comfortably topping Group B after the round robin were the trio of Hideaki Ando, YLBC’s Mr. Murase, and Nichie LBC’s Mrs. Matsubara.

While topping a tight Group A, and eventual winners outright, were

LB Tokyo’s Ken Emura

Yoko Ishiguro

… and Terry Potticary

After a long and very enjoyable day of bowls, we headed upstairs for what proved an equally enjoyable party on the deck.

Congratulations to the winners, to organizers and MCs Shige-san and Hide-san, and to all who took part for helping to make this a special day that is sure to be repeated next season.
