This year’s installment of the Lawn Bowls Nations Cup was held on Saturday October 19 with eight triples teams taking part.
In a break with recent tradition, the tournament was played in a round robin format, four ends per match, with no final. At the end of a colorful and fun-filled day of lawn bowls, the table looked like this:
In third place, contrary to the official scorekeepers’ record and prize-giving announcement, was Team UK, starring Alex, James and Terry. A win in the final game against the Samurai would have been enough to see the UK win the tournament outright, but the Samurai put the British to the sword, 5-1. Itai!
In second place, level on WLD points with the winners but with an inferior wood difference (+11), were the aforementioned Samurai, starring Shinya, Yasu K. and Yoda. Good effort.
And in first place, with 5 wins out of 7 and a massive total points haul of 40 to just 13 woods against was Black Thunder, starring Shige, Toshi and the ever-brilliant Honjo.

This Nations Cup victory was the third in five years for Black Thunder (2020, 2022 and 2024), which is a record not to be scoffed at.
