Tom, Terry and Eddie Win 2023 Opening Day

The weather forecast was for drizzle and light rain in the morning clearing at noon just in time for the 12:30 start of the Opening Day Tournament. The torrential downpour at midday was not scheduled, and it was some relief for the 26 bowlers assembled when the skies did indeed clear right on time.

The winning wood, which arrived at the jack from the right entirely undisturbed, was bowled by Motoko Tsuyama. Perfect line and length with her season’s very first delivery. Sasuga.

And that was that. Finishing in third place overall was Team A2, starring Shige Itoh, Tag Team Hans Pauli and Takako Elberse, and Russell Brown

Tournament runners up were A3, starring Foster Klug, Shige Yasuda and George Ishiguro

And the winners of the 2023 Don Helm Memorial Trophy were B4, starring Terry Potticary, Eddie Wu and Tom Tyrrell
